Electrolysis

Electrolysis Explained

Superfluous body and facial hair can be a problem for many women, although body hair is natural hair removal is the most popular beauty service carried out in salons.

Electrolysis is the ONLY proven method of permanent hair removal; as it involves destroying the hair at the hair follicle. The cause of hair growth can be hereditary or a result of stress, particular illness and medication can stimulate the growth.

The consultation will determine the treatment procedure for the area to be worked on, the type of hair growth on the body and how the hair was previous removed and whether treatment had been carried out at any other time by a salon will need to be established before treatment can be carried out.

What areas can be treated?

The areas that are suitable for treatment are facial areas such as upper lip, chin, neck, sides of face, low hair line, thick eyebrows, between the brows and shaping of the eyebrows.

Body areas which can be treated are arms, underarms, between the breasts, around the nipples, legs, thighs, bikini, abdomen, back and shoulders, fingers and toes.

Very sensitive areas such as inside the nostrils, the ears, lip, nipples and eyelids are not normally treated.

The treatment is not normally painful however there may be a little discomfort and occasionally the feeling of heat in the area for a short time. The area may stay red for a few hours after the treatment which can be soothed by after care products recommend to you by your therapist.

How long will it take ?

Every one is different and for this reason it is essential to have a full consultation before your treatment starts.

If the hairs have previously been removed by plucking or other methods the growth will be much stronger as the follicles have been stimulated and will require more treatment that untreated areas of hair growth.

Depending on the size of the area requiring treatment, as well as the strength and maturity of the hair growth will determine how long your treatment programme will take. A much clearer idea of the treatment programme length can be seen once treatment has begun as your response to the treatment can be monitored.

How much will it costs?

The costs of the treatments are worked out in units of one hour and half hours.

When looking at the cost of treatments, consider how much time and money you will spend in a life time’s pursuit of hair removal by temporary methods.

There is a 25% discount on block bookings and G.P Referrals.

“ Your commitment" to Electrolysis is very important! Hair can grow approximately ½ inch per month, but the hair on a woman's lip may reach only ¼ inch above the skin. This means the hair would be visible above the skin, in the Anagen stage, approximately 2 weeks. If electrolysis appointments are missed, permanent hair removal can not be achieved as quickly since some of the hair will have begun to reach the shedding stage before treatment and therefore complete destruction of the papilla can not be achieved. “

The treatment is approved by the medical profession. We always use Sterile Disposable Probes recommend by the Public Health Laboratory Service. The individually packed probes remain sealed and sterile until opened at your treatment. After each treatment the probe is disposed of. By using this method each client has a new sterile probe for their treatment.
